Timing Chain Setup (Astra 1.2)
Chain Installation /
1 - Turn crankshaft to just before TDC on cylinder number 1
2 - Remove blanking plug from block
3 - Turn crankshaft slowly until pin in block can be inserted into crank
4 - Make sure camshaft lobes on number 1 cylinder angled upwards
5 - Insert camshaft locking bar in rear of camshafts
6 - Insert camshaft sprocket timing tool
7 - Remove blanking plug from chain front cover
8 - Compress tensioner and lock with tensioner locking pin
9 - If needed slacken bolt on each camshaft to adjust valve timing position
10 - Tighten bolt of each camshaft sprocket
11 - Tighten crankshaft centre bolt 150nm + 45° + 15°
12 - Tighten crankshaft pulley bolts 8nm
13 - Refit both blanking plugs 50nm
