Timing Belt Setup (Fiesta 1.4)
Cambelt Installation /
1 - Rotate engine until number 1 cylinder is at TDC
2 - Make sure camshaft timing bar is fitted correctly
3 - Ensure crankshaft locking pin is in correctly
4 - Slacken bolt of each camshaft sprocket slightly
5 - Make sure camshaft sprockets can turn freely
6 - Fit timing belt in an anti clockwise direction starting from crank
7 - Fit timing belt lower cover
8 - Fit crankshaft pulley and tighten according to size (see torque settings)
9 - Tensioner types as follows
Type 1 & 2 are pre pinned, bolt on and remove pins.
Type 3 has 8mm Allen key to adjust, fit tensioner with bolts finger tight, turn tensioner anti clockwise until indicator is central with rectangle recess, Then tighten bolts to 20nm.
Type 4 has 6mm Allen key, fit and torque bolts to 20nm, turn tensioner cam anti clockwise until arrow is centre of window, tighten tensioner pulley bolt to 20nm also.
10 - Tighten camshaft sprocket bolts 60nm
11 - Remove timing tools
12 - Turn engine over by hand 2 rotations and check timing tools fit back
